A new EP forthcoming imminently from purveyor of cryptic and moody tape ambience - details below

Louis Johnstone's WANDA GROUP project has provided some of the most consistently beautiful and moving music to have emerged in the last few months. His album Piss Fell Out Like Sunlight landed in our list of favourite albums of the year so far, and in a recent interview with the Quietus he revealed some of the thoughts and ideas that go into his music, all in customary block capitals. It's well worth a read, as it's a particularly insightful, self-deprecating and witty interview - click here to read it.

Now he's announced the release of a new record entitled Masculinity Is A Wonderful Thing, which will be released on 5th August via Where To Now? Records. It's a limited run of 300 vinyl copies, and features a pair of tracks that explore typically lovely WANDA spaces: all crystalline hi-end heat-haze, tape crackle, muffled voices and translucent almost-melodies that loom upward through the mix. They're titled 'Gorgeous Lucio' and 'We Held Our Balance'.

Says Johnstone of the record: "MASCULINITY IS A WONDERFUL THING EXISTS AROUND MY DAD AND HIS DAD. BOTH MEN SPENT TIME ON THE WATER. ONE IN THE ENGINE ROOM AND ONE ABOVE IT ALL. I GUESS IT’S ABOUT HOW I LEARNED OR TRIED TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO BE A MAN ON THIS EARTH."

You can pre-order the record via the Where To Now? site, and in the meantime you can watch a five minute video with selections from the record below.
