Wrap your ears around a taster of the Finnish band's upcoming soundtrack to the documentary Six Day Run and watch a trailer for the film below

Six Day Run, the latest record by Finnish experimental rockers Circle, is set for release via Ektro Records on May 17. It contains all of the music that the band created for Mika Taanila's short film of that name, and we've got an exclusive first listen to the track ‘Day Four’ from the record below:

It’s an excellent example of intricate guitar play cutting in and out to compliment a hypnotic, repetitive, fuzzy riff. Synths are introduced gradually, giving the instrumental an eerier, space-age sound – though always underpinned by the pounding rhythm section which seems perfectly appropriate as the soundtrack to a monotonous, madcap endurance sport called The Self-Transcendence Six Day Race.

Taanila’s film captures the pretty daft occasion in which competitors run with little to no sleep whilst attempting to rack up the most circuits around a one-mile long concrete loop in Flushing Meadows in New York City. The annual event has a remarkable history including betting scandals and an awful lot of meditation.

The Finnish filmmaker’s work usually varies from more conventional documentaries to avant-garde movies and visual art, with repeated attention on utopia and dystopia, scientific advancement, failure and man-machines. Six Day Race was shot in April 2012 and premiered at the 42nd Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR) in January this year. Below is a short but fascinating trailer:
