Anthony 'Shake' Shakir In London

Legendary Detroit producer plays a rare London date at Plex this Friday, alongside an impressive line-up

For anyone after something to do this coming weekend, Anthony 'Shake' Shakir touches down in London this Friday, February 3rd, to play a 2 hour set at Corsica Studios. He's joined by a very impressive supporting roster indeed: A Made Up Sound, Inigo Kennedy, recent Hessle Audio signing Objekt, Nightwave, DjRUM and Strepsil, as well as Plex residents.

Shake's music is among the most interesting and idiosyncratic house and techno to emerge from his home city of Detroit, and has been hugely influential on a whole new generation of producers. It's particularly audible in the scattershot, grimey house of the Hessle Audio crew and their associates, many of whom take a similarly fluid approach to rhythm and track construction.

Objekt and A Made Up Sound (aka 2562) make music that draws a great deal from Shake's, but are both among the more unique people operating in the space between house, techno and dubstep, and both are formidable DJs. DjRUM, meanwhile, plays sets that don't necessarily draw just for his more contemplative productions (like the excellent Mountains EP) - for more on his music and approach to DJing, read today's interview with him here.

Shake has also just announced the release of a new full-length album, through fellow Detroit man Kyle Hall's Wild Oats label. Due for release at the end of February (report FACT), West Side Sessions features remastered versions of tracks from Shake's long out-of-print M3 Sessions record, alongside other unreleased tracks from the same sessions.

Tickets for this Friday's Plex are £12 in advance, and available here.
