Quietus Mix 30: Daniel O'Sullivan Of Æthenor & Many More

Mr Daniel O'Sullivan does us a fantastic mix

Tall and handsome black hoodie-wearing artist Daniel O'Sullivan is surely one of the busiest men in the avant-garde. This year alone we've already seen him play with Ulver in Norway, praised the new Æthenor LP, and saw him in the crowd at a recent gig by Alexander Tucker, with whom he'll soon be collaborating. And that's not to mention his time in Guapo, Sunn O))) and Mothlite, along with appearances in anyone from Chrome Hoof to Sunn O))) to The Big Pink. Next week, the Quietus and Rockfeedback are joining forces to put on an Æthenor gig at Cafe Oto (buy tickets here, so we thought it was high time we asked Daniel to contribute to our mix series. Daniel has really grasped the concept behind the Quietus mix series, blending some of his own projects and collaborations along with influences and favourites. We're sure you'll enjoy the journey, listen via our Mixcloud below.

Says Daniel of his mix: "Not exactly one for the dancefloor, although the heat gets turned up in the middle with YMO and Heldon, this is a combination of old favourites and current ear candy. I believe a good mixtape has to have some sort of dramaturgy, however abstract or personal. There are a few "related" tunes in there, Æthenor nestled in between Coil and Arnold Dreyblatt (how cosy), Grumbling Fur (a new/old project I'm working on with Alexander Tucker and Jussi Lehtisalo from Circle), Miracle remixed by Fennesz and the false entry from the new Ulver record.
