Quietus Mix 14: Cornershop's Lemon Entry

Cornershop step up for number 14 in the mix series

The Quietus believes in buying local. Despite the Tesco outlets currently sprouting up in environs, you're generally to find us buying our supplies in the funny little shop two minutes away with the plastic bag of chemical-tasting bread rolls that run out by 10, the Whirling Dervish Turkish restaurant, the Roti Stop who sell a Kuchi Chilli Jam so hot we warm the office with it in winter, Il Bacio Express, Stoke Newington booksellers, the porn-free newsagent and the Blue Legume and Lemon Monkey cafes: all good, independent businesses in the N16 area. Which is a very roundabout way of saying that Cornershop are our nearest purveyors of rock & roll and who, we hear, plot their next moves in one of the establishments above. So we're especially pleased that they've done us a mix to celebrate their brilliant new record Cornershop & The Double ‘O’ Groove Of which, in the spirit of independent trading, they've financed themselves via fan pledges. You can find all about that here while you listen to Cornershop's mix of their own music, Ultramagnetic MCs, Jeffrey Lewis, T Rex, Ananda Shankar, The Strange Boys and more.
