Cosmic Slop: A Summer Psychosis Spotify Playlist
The Quietus , July 23rd, 2010 10:31

Tonight sees the Cosmic Slop clubnight return to a bijou basement in Stoke Newington. Friend of the Quietus Pat Long presents a Spotify playlist to whet your whistle for the night; The Quietus will probably be wandering down later for a fine evening of dancefloor oddness

The Cosmic Slop club night is the best thing to happen to music in Stoke Newington since Sid Vicious went to primary school there (true fact). Every third Friday of the month the bijou basement of the Three Crowns pub gets rammed beyond capacity for a free night celebrating a freewheeling array of dancefloor oddness from the last sixty years: from raucous rockabilly to twisted post-punk and everything in between.

It’s a disco for the discerning, but the emphasis is firmly on D.A.N.C.I.N.G – so you’re just as likely to hear a Sly And The Family Stone record as some mindblowingly obscure ‘70s psych funk while you’re enjoying the mind-bending visuals courtesy of the Thousand Eyes collective, or some top-drawer guest DJ talent.

You can check out our Cosmic Slop mixes elsewhere on the web, but to get you in the mood here’s a special Summer Psychosis Spotify playlist:
