The Quietus , July 21st, 2009 07:02

This year's list revealed

The list of albums nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize has been revealed at a ceremony at the Hospital Club in Soho, London.

The full list is below, feel free to shuffle into 'token jazz by boys from Oxford' and 'token person of colour making music that won't offend mahogany coffee tables' etc etc and so on.

Bookmakers William Hill reckon it's the "closest year ever", with Florence & The Machine tied at 5:1. The Quietus' favourite album on the list, Primary Colours is at 8:1.

Quietus Ed. John Doran says that "given Florence is a 40-something pretending to be a 20-something, attempting and succeeding to steal pocket money off teenagers, he will not be surprised if she manages to thieve this off rightful winners The Horrors".

Keep your eyes peeled for The Quietus' much more righteous Jovian Bow Shock Prize (In association with Il Bacio Express, Stoke Newington) nominations later.

The Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize one looks a little something like this:

Bat for Lashes - Two Suns

Florence & The Machine - Lungs

Friendly Fires - Friendly Fires

Glasvegas - Glasvegas

Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum

La Roux - La Roux

Led Bib - Sensible Shoes

Lisa Hannigan - Sea Sew

Speech Debelle - Speech Therapy

Sweet Billy Pilgrim - Twice Born Men

The Horrors - Primary Colours

The Invisible - The Invisible

The winner will be announced on Tuesday 8 September 2009.
