The Maccabees and Roots Manuva have revealed they are set to work together on an unlikely collaboration.

Although they're yet to meet in person, both the Brighton-based band and south-London rapper are keen to work together on a project.

Maccabees guitarist Felix White had expressed his admiration for Roots Manuva in an interview with BBC 6 Music earlier this year when he said: "If Roots Manuva happens to hear this, we really want him to do a song with us. I just want to give him a song and see what he could do with it."

The rapper has now responded since the two acts shared a bill at last weekend's Glastonbury festival, declaring: "Come round on Monday or Tuesday ... Let's get this going."

He also rebutted the idea that the soft-indie of The Maccabees wouldn't mix with his own music as he insisted: "Rock is more than just rock'n'roll. Rock is a child of jazz, and hip-hop is a child of rock'n'roll so it's all one big extension of sonic fun and frivolousness."

The song value and just the drasticness of what they do is really similar [to my music]," he aded. "It's right up my street."
