If you’re wondering how Nick Stahl feels about Christian Bale taking over the role of John Connor in the new Terminator: Salvation, you could probably just ask Edward Furlong how he felt when Stahl took the same role from him in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. In the types of movies that people are more likely to see for the special effects than the characters, actors have very little job security. And the rotating John Connors are just one example . . .

Speaking of Batman movies, there weren’t a whole lot of fan boys up in arms about the switch from Katie Holmes to Maggie Gyllenhaal for the role of Bruce Wayne’s plucky love interest in The Dark Knight. Now, perhaps that’s because Gyllenhaal’s a more critically acclaimed, indie-friendly actress. But we suspect it’s because since marrying Tom Cruise, Holmes is widely assumed either to have been brainwashed by aliens or to have in fact become an alien herself. Something like that, anyway.
