Split with Island won't prevent release of Don't Stop

Annie has confirmed that her new album Don't Stop will come out in 2009, despite the ending of her deal with Island Records.

Speaking to Billboard, Annie said, "I own the masters, so I can do whatever I want to do. I might do it myself, on my own label. We're talking to people too."

She added that in the current climate there were great opportunities for artists wanting to strike out on their own: "There's so much happening in the business right now. In a way, I feel to do things on your own, you're in control. I've always been this sort of artist that people don't know how to categorize me and what to do with me."

Speaking over the ending of her deal with Island was over the departure of company president Nick Gatfield. "It's just difficult, when you first work with someone and you have a vision and an idea of what you want to do, and suddenly you're working with someone who doesn't care about anything at all," she said.

It is thought that Annie will release two singles from Don't Stop in the next few months.
