Morrissey - chin chin

Morrissey is to play some of his favourite records on a US radio station next Friday, August 29th.

The beefcake crooner will appear on the excellent Morning Becomes Eclectic show on Santa Monica-based KCRW at 11.15 AM their time. Those of us not in Southern California will be able to listen online at the KCRW website.

Said presenter Nic Harcourt, "Sitting down with Morrissey was both daunting and exciting. He is such an interesting person, with strong opinions and immense musical talent. He does not mince words when he dislikes something, but when he talks about music he respects, he is an outspoken fan."

Speaking of the development of love for music, Morrissey said, "At the time when music happens to you and grabs you and jumps on top of you, you don’t realize that it will stay with you forever. You think you’ll outgrow everything. But with music, with artists, you actually fall in love. You fall in love with that moment, hearing them. And you fall in love with them.

"You may push these things aside for 10 or 15 years, but you go back to them."

The records that Morrissey will play that clearly said something to him about his life will apparently include cuts from Noel Coward, Sparks, Buzzcocks, New York Dolls, Cockney Rejects and, er The Courteeners.
