WATCH: New Insecure Men Video
AR Wood , March 5th, 2018 09:00

Exclusive! Take a holiday in the South Pacific with Saul Ademczewski and Gerry Adams.

Today Insecure Men release the compelling-unsettling video for ‘Ulster’, directed by Niall Trask, with ersatz Hawaii vibes and Super-8-ish film effects, a multiplying, self-spawning Saul and a guest appearance (kind of) from the man who led Sinn Fein for 25 years. “We’ve written two more songs about Gerry Adams since we wrote this,” Saul told tQ last month. “He just won’t die.”

‘Ulster’ was originally going to be on Fat White Family’s 2016 album Songs For Our Mothers – “Everyone loved it but it didn’t fit,” says Saul. The claustrophobic lyrics are by FWF’s Lias, and were prompted by his memories of “growing up in a small town in Northern Ireland in an Algerian family”. The video, helpfully, adds extra resonance to his use of “pebbledash”.
