Tokyo Has Most Record Shops In The World, According To Data

Discogs and Vinylhub have pulled data together to conclude that Tokyo has more record shops than any other city in the world

Discogs and affiliated site VinylHub have pulled together a vast amount of data about the world's record shops which will no doubt come in handy to record diggers of the world.

As Resident Advisor reports, the two sites' data concludes that Tokyo has more record stores than any city in the world with a total of 93, accounting for more than half of Japan's total. The top three is rounded out by Berlin with 87 shops and London with 79.

The US has more shops than any country in the world at 1482, while the UK (537) and Germany (453) complete the top three. The top three cities in the US for stores are New York (47), Chicago (30) and Los Angeles (29).

The small island of Palau, with its three stores for a population of 21,186 tops the list of shop density according to number of citizens.
