They shared their first ‘official’ single a couple of months ago and now Insecure Men, the band formed by Saul alongside school friends Ben Romans-Hopcraft and fellow Fat Whites member Nathan Saoudi, have released a second track.

‘Teenage Toy’ sits somewhere on the precipice of leftfield pop and easy listening - you can hear it above. Saul describes it as “pretty music with a dark underbelly to it”.

He continues: “‘Teenage Toy’ is about adolescent sexuality and how frustrating that can be for most of us, especially people growing up in the suburbs or the suburbs of the suburbs. Like those towns that only have one garage. We wanted it to sound like a demented cartoon world. I think we achieved that. Well done us.”

The track was written at The Queens Head pub in Stockwell, a creative hub of sorts for Fat White Family. It was then recorded onto an ancient Tascam at Sean Lennon’s studio in upstate New York while Saul was visiting The Moonlandingz there; it was also produced by Sean Lennon.

Insecure Men formed in 2015 to give Saul an outlet for the more “reflective” side of his writing. The band has a shifting membership of around 11 musicians - Saul on vocals and guitar, Ben on bass and backing vocals. Nathan Saoudi has left the group and original lapsteel player Sean Lennon has been replaced by Marley Mackey. Victor Jakeman (of Claw Marks) plays the organ, Joe Isherwood (We Smoke Fags) plays keyboards, and Fat Whites saxophonist Alex White is also involved. A south London music teacher known only as Steely Dan plays vibraphone and steel drums, while Saul's old friend Jack Everett (Fat White Family, Warmduscher) plays drums.

They will tour the UK in March - dates below.
