New Order agree deal with former bassist Peter Hook over use of the band's name

Following a long-running dispute between the two, New Order have announced today that they have reached a full and final settlement with former bassist Peter Hook over Hook's use of New Order and Joy Division branding on merchandise.

The dispute was based on Hook's use of the New Order and Joy Division names in promoting live shows and selling and branding merchandise, while the two parties also disagreed upon the amount of money Hook should receive from the use of the name New Order by his former colleagues since 2011.

Exact details of the settlement between the both of them have not been made public, but New Order's statement says: "The Joy Division and New Order names mean a great deal to so many of the fans, and the band felt it important to protect the legacy.

"With these issues now dealt with, Bernard, Stephen and Gillian can continue to do what they do best, make music and perform live."
