The French multi-instrumentalist returns with a brand new album set for release via Thrill Jockey

Thrill Jockey have announced details of a new album from French multi-instrumentalist Colleen. Below you can hear lead track 'Separating'.

An expansive, seven-minute track, 'Separating' is built around twinkling synths and the musician's hushed vocals.

Entitled A flame my love, a frequency, she is said to have introduced the most drastic change to her music since adding her own vocals on her fourth album, choosing to eschew the viola da gamba she is known for playing in exchange for electronic instruments, such as Moog pedals and Critter and Guitari synthesizers.

"The album‘s central theme is the inescapable fact that life and death always walk hand in hand," a press release accompanying the announcement explains, with the musician focusing on one year of her life beginning in the autumn of 2015 when she came hours from being at the site of one of the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks.

Colleen will tour Europe through this autumn with an entirely reconfigured new live show taking in her move into using electronic instruments. Dates are set to be announced in the future. A flame my love, a frequency is out on October 20.
