Alec Mansion Record Set For Reissue

The Belgian disco record will receive its first vinyl reissue via the Be With label

Alec Mansion's self-titled 1983 boogie record has become something of a grail for record collectors over the years fetching sizeable fees on the resale market. However, the ever on-form Be With label has now announced that the record will receive its first ever vinyl reissue next month.

The label says that the record has picked up status as a "crate-digging classic" and as such, a good condition copy of the record has been very hard to come by for a number of years, leading to the label's move to remaster and reissue the record.

Programming duties for the original record were handled by Dan Lacksman (who was the man behind Telex, often described as the Belgian Kraftwerk) whilst production came from Marc Moulin (who was part of jazz-rock fusion group Placebo). As Be With's statement announcing the release says: "It was during a stay in Chicago that [Alec Mansion] took inspiration from the communal spirit and sheer power of black American funk," with Mansion citing The Whispers, Prince and Chic as key influences in a recent interview with Noisey.

The original artwork of both the jacket and full-colour inner sleeve have been faithfully restored for the reissue, while the record will be pressed on 180g vinyl. The reissue is out on July 7 and you can listen to one of the record's many highlights 'Dans L'eau de Nice' above.
