Festival will feature Wooden Shijps and Beak> among others

TransCentury Update is a festival aiming to explore the worlds of both explicit art and music. The newly founded event will include performances from the likes of Wooden Shijps and Beak>.

The three day festival, taking place in Leipzig's UT Connewitz, will commence from November 10 through to November 12. UT Connewitz is a treasured 100 year old Cinema, which has a history of hosting events across multiple art forms. This collaboration between various art forms will be encapsulated by this event, which is said to combine live music and visuals. The festival has been curated by both the UT Connewitz and Eine Welt aus Hack, who are promoters based in Erfurt, Berlin and Leipzig, and put on concerts in the cities mentioned.

As well as performances from the above acts, the festival will also feature Marching Church, Patrick Higgins, Alex Cameron, Clinic, Warm Graves, Deerhoof, White Wine, Stereo Total, Bohren & Der Club of Gore and Ensemble Economique.

By focusing around the idea of the explicit it means that artists will be unified by theme rather than by a narrow genre. Acts on the line-up are intended to compliment each other, whilst also defying expectation. "We have been trying to create a line-up that fits together - but is also challenging the festival's audience." Trying to avoid a consensus line-up, the organisers also let their own preferences guide their eclectic choices. "We have not tried to book bands only because of their hype or press. Our goal was to create a line-up that we as curators would love to go to a festival for."

TransCentury Update - which takes its name from a self described trans-humanist TV show - is a new festival, but has goals to continue in the future. "The festival will hopefully continue in 2017 and will present more updates of the current music scene, moving away from hype and closer to soul and passion." You can find out more information here.
