Following the release of the grime MC's new album, Disaster Piece, he talks Mollie Zhang through 13 records, from N.W.A to Lexxus, stopping by Shy FX, DJ Krust and Vanilla Ice, that he blames for getting him into music

DJ Krust – 'Set Speed'
I'm about 14 now, in secondary school, and we're listening to a lot of drum & bass on the radio. Kool FM and stuff like that. I had a friend in school that bought records, he had decks and he was an aspiring DJ. So that made me think that I wanted to start MCing. By now, I was so into writing out songs and learning them that I was always messing about with lyrics. When my friend bought decks and actually started to buy drum & bass records, I remember he said, "I'll teach you how to mix, I'll teach you how to DJ" and I said, "Okay, yes please." I bought this song and Shy FX's 'This Style'. I used to mix these two into each other religiously. They were my favourites, and I just learnt them inside out so that I could mix them. I blame these two songs because they are iconic in their respective scenes and they are the first two vinyls that I thought I mastered DJing with.

I only DJed in his bedroom after school, but I learnt a lot and I consider myself capable; I can DJ, I just don't have records.
