The Quietus Hour: Episode 16 Of Our Radio Programme
John Doran , July 28th, 2016 09:42

They shoot horses don't they? So why won't someone shoot Doran?

Utterly demented after staying up all night compiling this site's top 100 albums of the year so far feature, John Doran made the mistake of actually turning up to work to record the 16th episode of The Quietus Hour. Fabulous co-host Natalie Sharp aka The Lone Taxidermist would have been better off picking up a jar of Robinsons shredless lime marmalade from Aldi to talk to for all the sense that he made during the recording. Despite this handicap the pair still managed to deal with such earth-shattering conversational gambits as security guards who destroy Brazilian art, hallucinations of giant metal chickens in Portugal, drunken memories of mermaids and the greatest British heavy rock band of the last two decades. And that's before we get to (mainly) new music by Elysia Crampton, Tomaga, Part Chimp, Hannah Peel, M83, $hit & $hine, King and Sadaf.

NB: Due to extreme exhaustion, John may have suggested on air that the ultra-talented musical powerhouse that is Craig Clouse of $hit & $hine is "hard work" and "uptight"... That is one way of looking at it. The other is that he isn't, he's simply an artist with a very precise vision and attendant concerns about how his work should be presented in public... which isn't entirely the same thing. Also, the name of the "techno" producer that John was trying and failing to remember was Shackleton.

Thanks to Natalie for being such a great co-host over the last few weeks.
