Four-piece share new single from forthcoming new album; check it out below

Nots are currently gearing up for the release of their second album, Cosmetic, which follows swiftly on from their debut released at the tail-end of last year. Above, you can check out 'Inherently Low', taken from the album.

The album was largely influenced by lyricist Natalie Hoffman's immersion in the news about the U.S. election as well as the band's busy tour schedule and long drives between show which encouraged her to continuously write down reactions to life.

'Inherently Low' was difficult for her to write about, with Hoffman saying: "it deals very much with depression and loss. The chorus describes a feeling of being trapped in your current state of mind, so much so that it begins to feed upon itself and falsely make you believe that you always were and always will be that way. I believe that in many ways this feeling is created and perpetrated by a society that is set up to purposefully keep many people low - undereducated, unable to be healthy, and just generally depressed at the current state of affairs in the world - in order to benefit a select group who hold the strings, and who will do anything to keep control."

Cosmetic is out, via Heavenly Recordings, on September 9 and the band are set to return to the UK later this year for a series of shows to support the album's release. You can pre-order the album here.
