Algiers, Liars and many more set for Berlin festival

Pop-Kultur has shared details of this year's event which will kick off at the end of next month.

Live music across the weekend will come from Algiers, Cat's Eyes, Abra, Stara Rzeka, Liars, Thurston Moore Band, Show Me The Body and many more. Fatima Al Qadiri and Julianna Huxtable will also take part in a discussion on the gap between lyrical and instrumental music, while a number of other talks and discussions will take place as well as film screenings.

The day before the festival, Mogwai will be playing new album Atomic in its entirety at Admiralspalast. It is comprised of reworked versions of music recorded for Mark Cousin’s documentary Atomic: Living In Dread And Promise.

"Atomic, Mogwai’s hypnotic soundtrack for Marc Cousins’ documentary, fascinated us right from the start. The interplay of music and images shows that pop music can unequivocally be political, despite what many people think,” says Pop-Kultur team-member Martin Hossbach. Doors will be at 7pm and tickets are priced at €30.

Berlin-based culture festival Pop-Kultur is back for its second year on August 31, taking place over three days at a variety of venues across the city. Tickets can be bought here where you can also check the full line-up as it stands.
