Standard edition of new turntable to be available from Autumn of this year

Vinyl nerds rejoice as Technics has revealed that the updated standard edition of their SL-1200G turntable will be made available this Autumn after recent news that the 300 limited edition units of the decks released in Japan sold out in only 30 minutes.

The company previously detailed the specifications on the special 50th anniversary limited edition SL-1200GAE deck, but has now gone one further revealing that the standard edition will feature, among other specs, a “high sensitive tonearm”, “heavy aluminium top plate” and “direct drive motor controller”.

With 900 limited edition units still to go on sale worldwide, the standard SL-1200G is what most will only be able to get their hands on. It won’t come cheap though with the standard edition expected to come in only shy of the reported £2799 price tag on the limited edition unit, a price that the company say accounts for putting the turntable back into production and therefore building almost every component from scratch.
