Prince has died aged 57, a publicist for the star has confirmed to Associated Press (AP).

The news comes after an investigation was reportedly launched into a death at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The death at the estate was confirmed by the county sheriff though no formal identification has yet taken place.

The news comes a week after Prince was hospitalised with flu, which forced his private plane into an emergency landing. The singer, however, threw a party the day after his release from hospital to assure fans he was well. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
