Company insists both upcoming weekenders will go ahead

ATP have released a statement reassuring customers that the forthcoming weekenders at Pontins Prestatyn will go ahead amid rumours of both events being cancelled.

“For clarity, and to reassure customers who have purchased tickets or travel for the upcoming festivals, these events will go ahead as scheduled: at Pontins Prestatyn, on 15th-17th April & 22nd-24th April,” said a statement posted on their Facebook page last night.

“We would like to apologise for our silence today, and for not getting back to all of your questions individually. We have been working with Pontins Management to release a full statement confirming this within the next 24 hours.”

Pontins Prestatyn are still selling packages for family breaks over the two weekends that the ATP events, which are due to be curated by Stewart Lee and Drive Like Jehu, are due to be held however, so it is not yet clear whether they have indeed been cancelled or the company has taken the decision to allow non-festival goers to stay on site also.

A Pontins booking agent told Billboard yesterday that the company is still awaiting payment from ATP and thus both events could not be officially confirmed yet, though the agent stressed that they had not been cancelled either. Meanwhile, Stewart Lee told us yesterday that he is also in the dark as to the current situation.
