Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival presents line-up of promising new Polish talent

The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival will next month play host to a number of exciting fresh Polish talent as part of their forward-thinking line-up geared towards new music.

Supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute as part of the Polska Music programme and the Polish Cultural Institute London, a number of the country’s finest new performers will play over the course of the festival’s 10 days. On the festival’s opening night (November 20), Agata Zubel, a composer-vocalist, will play alongside Austrian supergroup Klangforum Wien displaying her distinctive vocal talents, while a multimedia portrait concert from Jagoda Szmytka will also take place, with her past works having weaved sound, image and text together.

Polish sound artist, composer and omproviser Robert Piotrowicz will join the Ensemble Phoenix for a performance of two of his own works created using computers and analogue synthesisers - that’s on November 22. On November 23, folk group Księżyc will offer up a taste of the traditional Polish folk sound while synthesiser constructor and experimental musician Mirt will join Norwegian performer Maja S K Ratkje to reinterpret compositions by Arne Nordheim and Eugeniusz Rudnik on November 28. Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival takes place across multiple venues in Huddersfield from November 20-29. For more details, head here.
