Slaves Dismaland Hoax

Duo fall victim to an elaborate hoax centred around Banksy's Dismaland attraction

In news that some may consider a lucky escape, the ever-questionably named Slaves have revealed that they were recently tricked into thinking they would be playing a show at Banksy's Dismaland.

The pair took to Facebook this morning to tell their fans that they would be supporting Massive Attack at the recently launched attraction in Weston-super-Mare. However, Pussy Riot had already been announced for that slot.

It has now been revealed, as subsequently explained on Facebook, that they had fallen victim to an elaborate hoaxer who had pretended to be the show's promoter and then invited them to play on the night. As the pair put it themselves, they "got done, good and proper."

The rest of the statement reads: "We will not be playing at Dismaland on the 25th September. Some silly sausage pretending to be the organiser invited us to play a gig there and we naturally obliged. Turns out it wasn’t genuine." It's unknown exactly who had gone to these lengths to trick the band but, with that name and subsequent attempts to explain it away, there is no shortage of motivations. Good news for Slaves fans though, they'll now be playing a show at a different venue in Weston-super-Mare on the same night.
