Second track to be taken from forthcoming excellent long player

Jenny Hval has released a second track from highly-anticipated new LP Apocalypse, Girl, due for release on June 8th. Speaking about the process of writing 'Sabbath' Hval said: “I think I’ve been writing this song since about 1986. Because when I was really young I had a dream that my vagina had braces. For a long time, it was a monologue with a heavy drum loop and I had no idea what it was or why. It was just a galloping urge to say something. And then the chorus appeared.”

Hval describes ‘Sabbath’ as “like a mother; it just wants you to be happy. I really wanted to create something soft & loving. And I think it’s really catchy.” The Norwegian credits the 1966 Czechoslovak comedy-drama Daisies with inspiring the song “about girls. Girls playing, dreaming, singing, transforming. Girls speaking to and for everyone.”

Hval will support Perfume Genius at the Royal Festival Hall before heading on a four-date headline tour of her own, with dates in Manchester, Brighton and Cardiff ahead of a return to the capital for a show at Café Oto.
