This year has seen a surge of activity from Bristol agitators The Pop Group, with them reissuing and playing in full their 1980 compilation We Are Time, as well as releasing a new rarities collection, Cabinet Of Curiosities (read our review of them here).

Now, they've announced a new album. Citizen Zombie saw original members Mark Stewart, Dan Catsis, Gareth Sager and Bruce Smith working with producer Paul Epworth, finishing off recordings they've been making over the last two years at his Crouch End studio. Says Stewart: "Even I am shocked by the album. It really flips the script. Expect the unexpected. Let the freak flag fly." He adds, of working with Epworth: "From his work with Phones onwards, I've loved his work and think he's one of the world's best producers. He gave us the freedom to create and, with his help, destiny rides again for The Pop Group," while the producer himself says: "It was an amazing opportunity and very exciting to be working with the guys. The energy is still there, the idea is still there, it still fizzes with a life that most young bands today just don't have.” The album will be out on February 23 2015 via Freaks R Us; for now, they've revealed the title track - have a listen above.
