This year's edition of Sensoria festival is currently underway in Sheffield and will take on something of a Quietus-tinged hue this Friday and Saturday. Firstly, tQ editor John Doran will be reading excerpts from his upcoming debut publication, Jolly Lad, containing freshly tweaked versions of his long-running VICE column MENK, as well as the sentence: "This roaring oaf of a ukulele salesman was trying to kick the bathroom door down". What's the book, out on Strange Attractor Press, about? "The author's attempts to deal with his life as a recovering alcoholic, to calm his enthusiasm for narcotics, to take control of his wildly fluctuating mental health issues and to curb a tendency toward bleakness in order to become a better father to his young son and less of a meff," since you ask. Go and hear John reading at 6.30 pm at Golden Harvest.

Then, on Saturday, there'll be a screening of no less than five of the Quietus At Leisure films made by Luke Turner and film-maker Ethan Reid. Alongside Stephen Morris displaying his military vehicle collection, Cosey Fanni Tutti talking us through her vegetable patch and Bad Seed Jim Sclavunos on Tiki culture, there are two previously unaired films: Tim Burgess on making coffee and setting up Tim Peaks Diner and Darren Haymen talking about trains. The Picturehouse Social at 4.30 pm's where you need to be to see these.

Beyond that, we shouldn't have to impress on you the high calibre of the festival, suffice to say that Tutti will be there in person, performing with Carter Tutti, alongside Wrangler and more, as well as a stack of ace screenings and talks. All the details are over at Sensoria's website.
