With his new album The Cellardyke Recording And Wassailing Society, featuring contributions from Alexis Taylor, KT Tunstall, The Pictish Trail and more, out this week, the Fife singer-songwriter writes us a special Baker's, cherry-picking favourite tracks from his old Edinburgh club night

El Combo De Los Galleros – 'Soledad'
There was a Fopp record store in Edinburgh years ago that used to sell all sorts of oddities, cheap pressings and overstocks. I think it was my old bandmate Cliff who first bought this one, but I could be mistaken. Once we heard this old Cumbia we couldn't get enough of it; very easy to segue it into old ska for the dancefloor, too... Through Cumbia I got into the great Guillermo Portabales then onto Caetano Veloso and all sorts. These Cumbia tracks are records my kids love now. They call it chicken chasing music.
