Dekmantel Festival: New Names
The Quietus , April 8th, 2014 06:34

Surgeon, Joey Anderson, Andrew Weatherall and Jeff Mills among the names added to the second edition of Amsterdam dance festival

Dekmantel Festival, the Amsterdam house/techno festival run by the label of the same name and now entering its second year of existence, has today announced a heap of extra names for this year's edition. Last year's first edition boasted an impressive line-up, which looks to be matched again by the 2014 edition, which so far includes the likes of Ben UFO, DJ Koze, DJ Harvey, Levon Vincent, Moritz von Oswald Trio, Shackleton, and enough other artists to make up a pretty comprehensive survey of the current state of play in house and techno. It takes place from 1st - 3rd August at Amsterdamse Bos.

Today's additions further round the line-up out. Chief among them are a brace of techno heavy-hitters, including dependably excellent Detroit futurist Jeff Mills, UK veteran Surgeon, and a pair of Berlin back-to-back sessions: Ben Klock with Ryan Elliott, and Marcel Dettmann with Luke Slater. Also added to the bill are Nina Kraviz, Andrew Weatherall, rising NY house artist Joey Anderson (whose great debut album is forthcoming on the Dekmantel label), Boddika, Efdemin with Marcel Fengler, Steffi with Answer Code Request, Atom™ x Tobias (live), Young Marco, Julio Bashmore, Bicep, Mark du Mosch and Interstellar Funk. Two of Detroit's best young artists will also be playing back-to-back: Wild Oats label boss Kyle Hall and Jay Daniel, whose recent releases for Wild Oats and Sound Signature have offered a raw, melody-saturated vision of house.
