Speedy Wunderground Announce Comp
Ed Ledsham , April 3rd, 2014 07:29

Features tracks from Steve Mason, Archie Bronson Outfit, TOY, Natasha Khan (Bat For Lashes), Scotti Brains, Kate Tempest, JUCE! and Childhood

Producer Dan Carey's Speedy Wunderground label will be releasing a compilation, entitled Speedy Wunderground – Year 1, of their as-yet released tracks with some additional b-sides and mixes thrown in too. The album features one of tQ's favourite tracks of last year in the form of 'I Go Out' by Steve Mason & Emiliana Torrini, as well as 'Mr Dan's No Brain Dub' of Juce's 'Braindead' (available to stream above). The label's distinct aesthetic involves rehearsing a track to the point of being able to record it all in one day, with nary a break for lunch. The track is then mixed the following day. Carey believes these strict recording conditions give the music the immediacy of the "golden age of rock & roll", bringing a raw sound and allowing for a swifter release date.

The album will be released on May 26 on 12”, CD and download with a launch event being held on May 2 at The Social in London. Read our feature on the label here and see the complete track listing for the comp here.
