Sarah Ward , February 4th, 2014 10:49

Toy, Fat White Family, Sharon Van Etten and more for Green Man

This year’s Green Man festival runs from August 14-17 August, with the first wave of names for the line-up announced today, including Toy, Sharon Van Etten, Anna Calvi, Kurt Vile & The Violators, Jeffry Lewis & The Jrams and Daughter.

Although not all headliners have yet been announced, the reformed Neutral Milk Hotel will close the festival and there's a return appearance from Beirut as Friday’s headline act, while Saturday night’s is still under wraps. Taking place for the twelfth year in the Welsh Black Mountains, one of only five International Dark Sky Reserves in the world, the festival is collaborating with BBC 6 Music for the first time on a new stage - head to the festival's website for full details and tickets.

Elsewhere on the bill, Brixton ne'er-do-wells Fat White Family will be making an appearance. Green Man took the trouble to drop Saul Adamczewski, the band's guitarist and singer, a line ahead of their set - here's what he had to say:

What is your best festival story/memory?

Saul Adamczewski: I had a really bad trip at a festival in Kent. So bad that someone paid for a cab to take me home.

Who would be your three dream festival headliners?

SA: Funkadelic, The Doors, The Pogues (when they were young).

You can only take three items with you to Green Man. What do you take?

SA: My guitar, a strap and some spare strings (or my manager will kill me).

If you were able to sit outside their tent and listen to any two people speak, who would it be?

SA: I wouldn’t be so rude as to eavesdrop.

Green Man brings an unrivalled choice of 150 ales, ciders and perries to the festival - which of these drinks best describes you and why?

SA: I only drink Guinness, I hope you have Guinness.
