After releasing two previous albums as Mathew Saywer and The Ghosts and The Ghosts, the renowned painter is back this year with third album Sleep Dreamt a Brother, complete with cover art painted by Sawyer himself. The album centers itself around the cyclical nature between life and death; Sawyer wrote and recorded the majority of the album at his home studio following the loss of three friends a few months apart in 2011, completing it two weeks before his son was born.

Says Sawyer of the album's conception: “I like recording to be hand in hand with everyday living. The sound of cars come through the windows, the phone rings, floorboards creak. These sounds all played an important role in making this record. Studios are quiet and lifeless.”

'Don't Tell The Others What We Were Singing' is the debut track from the album, and we've the premiere of it here – have a listen below:

Sleep Dreamt A Brother is out on October 7th; head to Fire Record's website to pre-order yourself a copy and read our interview with Sawyer from a couple of years ago here.
