Publishers seeking pledges to fund compendium on Brazilian culture

Sounds & Colours, the magazine that focusses on South American music and culture, is set to follow last year's excellent book/CD on Colombian music, film and art with a similar publication on Brazil.

They're currently taking pledges to fund the publication - head to Indiegogo for full details and to make a pledge.

Sounds & Colours Brazil is set to be a collection of writings, accompanied by photos and illustrations, from regular contributors to the magazine and experts and musicians from Brazil and beyond, alongside a CD of S&C's selection of the best Brazilian music.

Say S&C: "We will be going in-depth on the diverse music scenes of South America's biggest country, looking at both Brazil's classic genres (samba, choro, forró, sertaneja) and the new, cutting-edge sounds surging in its cities today. We will be interviewing film directors, looking for the next City Of God and writing about classics from the Cinema Novo movement. There will be articles about Brazilian literature, society and visual arts, in addition to artwork and illustrations from Brazilian artists."

Rewards for pledges range from copies of the finished product to t-shirts and tote bags printed with original artwork, as well as the Sounds & Colours Colombia, which we called, "[a] uniquely immersive experience, more informative and true to form than any work of pure non-fiction writing on the subject".
