UPDATE: Unfortunately Morphosis has been forced to cancel Saturday night's show due to visa issues. There's full information in a post on the Fabric blog, which reads: "Despite his amazing efforts, going above and beyond was is required in this situation even cancelling a show in Miami and flying himself to his home embassy in Beirut, he just could not get a work visa in time for the show." Rabih Beaini, aka techno mystic Morphosis, is set to play live at Fabric this Saturday, 8th December, as part of Craig Richards' Nothing Special. Beaini among the most unique voices in contemporary electronic music, blending together improvisation and experience in jazz (he's also a member of the Upperground Orchestra ensemble) with weighty drum machine rhythms and modal melodies drawn from his home country of Lebanon.

His live performances are as renowned as his solo material, finding him improvising entire sets using a bank of drum machines, synths and effects - when he played at CTM Festival earlier this year we described him as "further abstract[ing] the phantom techno of last year's What Have We Learned? album into the realms of dark, cracked ambient, and teases a crowd desperate for the relief of a beat with fragments of percussion and super slow, heartbeat rhythms." A recording of a three hour DJ set at Panoramabar from earlier this year via mnml ssgs also made it into our favourite mixes of the first half of 2012 - you can listen to that here.
