Minny Pops: Monday Night!

Ian Rankin story and Pavlov's Children in support

Tomorrow night, the Quietus is teaming up with the O Genesis label for a night of music and speech at the Lexington, London. This will featuring the brilliant and somewhat unhinged Minny Pops - for those who haven't heard of them, they were Factory Records Dutch signing, somewhat forgotten as like many acts on that label they got a bit buried under the Joy Division tea towels. The Quietus saw them twice this year - once at the Garage where they provoked two handsome young men to roll around on the floor together, and once supporting Slash (at his request) at the Hammersmith Apollo. The assembled GNR fan booed... something that Wally Minny Pops has interpreted as a sign of their appreciation, rather than disdain. On the day of the gig Minny Pops release their new single 'Waiting For For This To Happen' b/w 'Glistening' via Minny Pops, and the first 50 people through the doors will receive a special Minny Pops artefact. You can read our interview with Wally Van Middendorp here. Minny Pops will be supported by their O Genesis labelmates Pavlov's Children, whose own new single 'Repeat Prescription' can be heard here. And instead of having a second band in support, actor Craig Parkinson (who played Tony Wilson in Control) will be reading Ian Rankin's short story 'A Little Bit Of Powder', find out more about that here. You can read Rankin's Baker's Dozen on his favourite albums here. Doors are at 19:30 and you can still get advance tickets here.
