Evan Caminiti, aka one half of Stateside desert-drone duo Barn Owl, is having a productive year. As well as releasing a recent cassette, Night Dust, he's signed to Barn Owl's label Thrill Jockey for a new full-length album entitled Dreamless Sleep, which will be released on August 21st. A little like Barn Owl's own approach, the album's pieces were composed using guitar and synthesiser, initially recorded to cassette before being post-processed and reassembled into a suite of glowing, dreamy compositions. The results are both expansive and rather cosy at once, and reward careful listening, in low lighting, at very high volumes, the better to feel their physical impact.

Click above to watch the grainy video for album track 'Absteigend', composed of a series of still and moving shots pieced together with a similarly astral logic as the music itself. The video is by Paul Clipson.
