Danny Wolfers shoots into deep space

Danny Wolfers, aka Legowelt (aka Polarius) is one of those stunningly productive musicians whose colossal output dwarfs most of their contemporaries. Better still, the quality is uniformly high; though admittedly, as much as anything else that's often because the sort of sound he works with - very melodic, spaced-out analogue synth-lines and chattery drum machine banter - is sumptuous enough that it carries along tracks regardless of their narrative thrust. After giving away an entire LP - the brilliant The TEAC Life - last year, and the release of this year's lovely North Sea Spectrum 12", he's giving away another track through his site. This one's called 'Deepspace Gazing', features a hammy sampled line from Star Trek and rattles along atop a monstrous, heaving beast of a bassline. Or, in Wolfers' (typically well-pitched) words: "uuuuWTF??? Its old school U.K rave proto breakbeat techno time. including mandatory Star Trek TOS KIRK sample and special animated GIF mini videoclip. Sounds courtesy of the commodore AMIGA, Roland R8 and MKS100 (and yes thats the same sound in Lake Distrax)". You can download the track here.
