Listen to a podcast produced during Reel Syria in London & Edinburgh from 15th-18th March

Reel Syria 2012, a four day festival of Syrian films, theatre and music, ran in London and Edinburgh from March 15th-18th this year. Timed to coincide with a year since the uprising in Syria began, it also took place during a time period when the violence in the country was increasingly being reported in the worldwide media.

The festival included a performance conceived by the KLF's Bill Drummond, under the banner of The 17, panel discussions, a Syrian film programme, book readings and a fundraising concert. While the festival was running, the organisers produced a podcast of the event, covering discussion around the context of Reel Syria, quotes from attendees, and the events that took place place. The header photo is of a piece of graffiti by Bill Drummond, which reads "IMAGINE WAKING TOMORROW AND ALL MUSIC HAS DISAPPEARED". More graffiti and more on his project can be found at The 17's website.
