Hippos In Tanks' purveyor of spacey electronic music gives away Music For Keyboards Vol. 1

The Hippos In Tanks label has been putting out a whole raft of free material lately, with a pair of downloadable records from James Ferraro under his BEBTUNE$/Bodyguard guise - and d'Eon's Music For Keyboards Vol. 1 is now available to download from the label's Soundcloud.

Best known for Darkbloom, last year's split EP with Grimes (who's currently doing rather well, with an album out on 4AD), d'Eon has a full-length upcoming through the label later this year. Billed as a 'mixtape', in the manner of those Ferraro records - it actually feels better described as an album, if we're being honest here - it consists of fourteen noodly, meandering keyboard instrumentals that act as a prelude to the album, entitled LP. Released later this year, the full-length will apparently include more pop-oriented material. Listen to the free album below, and download here.

While listening to Music For Keyboards this morning in the Quietus office, we accidentally hit play on Ekoplekz's ace recent Dromilly Vale EP simultaneously. Rather than ruining the experience for everyone, it proved an unexpected industrially flavoured enhancer for d'Eon's floaty, beatless sketches, and we'd strongly recommend it. In the mixtape spirit, we suspect Hippos In Tanks would probably approve - try it by streaming Ekoplekz's record here.
