Glaswegian producer reboots a track from last year's Glass Swords album, with added pop suss courtesy of Nightwave

Rustie's Glass Swords was a bull in a china shop of an album, shoehorning hunks of R&B, dubstep, hip-hop, electro and chart pop into a painfully hi-definition assault on the ears. Still, it was testament to the Glaswegian producer's skill that it ended up an unlikely hit, rather than the tangled mess it could have been.

He's set to release a re-tooled version of one of its standout tracks, 'Surph', as a single in April. Re-tooled, because in addition to the shrieking sampled vocals of the original, friend and contemporary Nightwave (the artist formerly known as 8Bitch) has added her own voice to the equation. Where Glass Swords merely toyed with pop and R&B, the resulting track turns Rustie's original into genuinely pop-friendly material. That said, not sure the charts are quite ready for this...
