Launch of a new night, Staunch, aimed at celebrating UK dance music's current 'non-genre moment', at Corsica Studios on February 24th

A new night dedicated to the current wide open state of UK dance music, entitled Staunch, is launching at Corsica Studios on February 24th, with a line-up featuring dubstep scene veteran Artwork (now of Magnetic Man) and sometime Instra:mental man Boddika. Running bimonthly, Staunch's aim is to bring together many of the names associated with the current wave of music that's shifted from dubstep into more house/techno oriented forms.

"So far those DJs and producers who have propelled London’s unique club culture to where it is now have operated in relatively niche groups," Staunch say. "If we don’t call it by a proper name, we talk about the likes of Night Slugs, Hessle Audio, Swamp 81 … iconic labels with definitive releases. Their common denominators are 4/4, and bass."

The first night lines up a pretty impressive opening salvo. It features Artwork playing a classic techno set, Boddika, whose acid-flecked house and electro tracks have been a regular feature on dancefloors over the last eighteen months, Mickey Pearce (the artist formerly known as Shortstuff), Trilogy Tapes/Hinge Finger label boss Will Bankhead, Dusky, Huxley and Klose One. It runs from 11pm until 7am, and tickets are £10 in advance and available here.
