The Quietus , September 29th, 2011 10:54

We present a new night of words and music on 13th October, in collaboration with Rough Trade Books

The first edition of Klüb Gütenberg, a new monthly night of words and music presented by the Quietus in association with Rough Trade Books, will take place at the Old Queen's Head, Islington, on Thursday 13th October.

The opening night features some illustrious talents. Poet and rock roadie Jock Scot, famous for his involvement with everyone from The Clash to British Sea Power, will be making a live appearance. Lucy Cooke, filmmaker and broadcaster, will be giving an illustrated talk on her work in Costa Rica with sloths. And Roy Wilkinson, brother of British Sea Power men Yan and Hamilton, will be giving a reading from his excellent book Do It For Your Mum, which is the first to be published through Rough Trade Books. It's a funny, thoughtful and moving read, exploring Wilkinson's family history and love of rock music through the lens of British Sea Power's rise to national fame. And DJ SAS Dirtyman will be spinning records.

You can read an extract from Do It For Your Mum here.

The night will run from 7:30 til 11, and a prize quiz will be held at 8pm.

Tickets are £5 adv from wegottickets/£6 on the door.
