Matador also to release deluxe version of Smoke Ring For My Halo

Kurt Vile's is due to release a new EP though Matador, So Outta Reach in November, and the increasing success of his slacker balladry has also prompted Matador to release a deluxe edition of Smoke Ring For My Halo. The deluxe version of his latest LP features bonus tracks from the Smoke Ring sessions.

When we spoke to Vile, he said that the EP’s title was inspired by repeated listens to Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks. Judging from the sound of first offering ‘The Creature’, the new release is a continuation of Vile’s earlier psych-folk style but with a couple of self-confessed “J Mascis style guitar solos thrown in”.

Vile went on to say that he was surprised that Matador were so supportive of the shorter release, as he “Thought that the whole releasing EPs thing was dead - so this is my chance to do my own version of Pavement”.

So Outta Reach tracklisting:

'The Creature
'
'It’s Alright'
'Life’s A Beach'

'Laughing Stock'

'Downbound Train'

'(So outta reach)'

'The Creature' is available for free download at the Matador website.
