Sonisphere Confirms Seven New Acts
James Hodgson , March 2nd, 2010 08:23

To date, Sonisphere’s line up had previously confirmed Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Mötley Crüe and Slayer but another seven fantastic acts have been added to the swelling ranks of rock.

Skunk Anansie, Funeral For A Friend, Fightstar, Gallows, Madina Lake, Family Force 5 and Apocalyptica have all joined the bill and to expand the range of acts on offer for the Knebworth extravaganza between July 30th and August 1st.

The self-styled ‘Clit Rockers’ Skunk Anansie who are back after their 2001-2009 hiatus will be raring to blow the crowd away after such a long break.

Fightstar of course feature ex-Busted singer Charlie Simpson who having successfully shed the shackles of boyband status to produce a top 20 album last year with their long player Be Human will be looking to win over even more grownups with their appearance and says “There are so many great bands playing over the three days and we are honoured to be part of the line-up.”

Bridgend’s post-hardcore emo Funeral For A Friend have sold more records than you can shake a drumstick at and surely need no further explanation.

Gallows’ aggressive hardcore punk, pop-punk/alt-rock Chicagoans Madina Lake, and Family Force 5’s ‘Sing-a-long dance rock’ almost complete the latest additions to the lineup aside from the last but not least Apocalyptica.

Interestingly; Apocalyptica actually formed in 1993 as a tribute act to last year’s Sonisphere fest year’s headliners Metallica and play covers of said band as well as cuts by Sepultura and Pantera with a smattering of their own material. These Finns play hard and heavy with their three cellos and metal as hell drummer but don’t be fooled by those classical instruments as they are more than capable of working up a frenzied mosh pit without the need for guitars.
