David Lean’s Nostromo

Speaking of the Alien franchise, we all of course remember that the name of the ship in the first film was Nostromo. Well, visionary epic director David Lean once planned to film the Joseph Conrad book from which the vessel got its name. If you’re a fan of David Lean and you’ve read Nostromo, you know it would have been a perfect match. The story of a troubled and not-always-sympathetic hero set against the backdrop of war in an exotic land would have given the director of Lawrence of Arabia much to chew on.
