Divine In '89 - Albums Superior To The Stone Roses? A Spotify Playlist
John Doran , September 4th, 2009 13:53

We got so carried away compiling this Neil Kulkarni/1989 playlist that we ran out of time to write anything to go with it. Several people breathe a sigh of relief . . .

To listen to the Divine In '89 Playlist, click here.

So you may have read Neil Kulkarni's iron shod kicking of the first Stone Roses album and John Tatlock's informative rejoinder; two of the best pieces we've run in recent months.

All this got us thinking about all the other great albums that were released in 1989 and the (unavoidable) canonical narrowing effect, with good albums galore shooting down the memory hole.

Anyway, here is a 1989 playlist culled mainly from Kulkarni's suggestions with a few others yanked from our poor age damaged noggins (and a few suggestions from ILX as well).

Have we forgotten any? Undoubtedly.
