John Hughes was a comedy genius who perfectly captured the trails and tribulations of the American suburban teen. He created some of the most memorable films of the 80s including The Breakfast Club, Christmas Vacation, Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Battleship Pretension's David Bax looks back on his legacy with a list of his top ten films.

Pretty in Pink

Just like The Breakfast Club simplified the roles one can expect to fit into in high school, Pretty in Pink reduced the types of guys a girl can expect to be interested in to two. Is he a Duckie or a Blane? The movie certainly helped young men as well, teaching them where they stood and how to be cool. Which, of course, is to be like Duckie. Duckie’s the cool one. Everyone knows that.
